I would like to thank you very much for the use of your procedural trainer which I used prior to commencing my 737 type rating with Alteon/ Boeing.
My previous experience, prior to commencing my 737 rating, was turbo props as a Captain of a Jetstream 31 (3500 hours total time).
My time in your simulator allowed me to become familiar with the 737 environment / flight deck layout. Going from a turbo prop to your first jet is a big step for any pilot. The time I spent rehearsing my procedures was invaluable and provided me with the opportunity to learn, in my own time, the flightdeck layout.
There are many systems in the 737 and it takes time to become familiar with these. Knowing where to look and action checklists comes only with time in the seat (in any aeroplane) – this time does not have to be in the motion simulator. Having the advantage of flying the same type, scanning the same panel, using the FMC and then going straight into my training at Alteon really gave me confidence – it truly helped me.
Needless to say I would highly recommend this as the ideal track for any other pilot under taking a 737 type rating.
